Angelique wearing a lot of rope!

I have a huge box full of mismatched pieces of rope that just gets bigger. In fact, I've thrown away entire garbage bags full of rope pieces on a number of occasions. I don't mean kitchen-sized but 50 gallon bags. Where do they come from? Well, shooting involves putting together a lot of rope and all rope is not all created equal. Crisp white rope gets stained, yellows over time and just plain gets all manner of gunk on it. I won't even talk about lipstick! Every time you use rope the fibers break down a little and the diameter gets just a little bit bigger. Regardless, you can put all the skeins together and they all look like they came from 100 different lots of rope.

I had another bunch of ropes ready for the garbage bin when it came time for my regular Friday shoot with Angelique. We decided on a 30s or 40s vintage wool outfit and wonderful shoes for her attire and that's when it hit me. I had seen so many images of the bondage from that time where the ropes were somewhat mismatched. I decided to go for that style but with oh so much more rope. The idea was that she is accosted and her captor just keeps using rope after rope after rope until her body is covered with it. If you asked me it worked. After long minutes Angelique is wearing several pounds of ropes over a wool outfit. She sweat, she strained and she got one hell of a workout. Auburn Arachnid

I've dabbled in comics for as long as I can remember. I drew a lot before photography kicked into gear and did a number of bondage portraits, a ton of bondage drawings and a fair number of bondage comics. I even did a portrait of Ashley Renee she had hanging at her home for a bit. I'll post that up at some point if I can dig out the scan!

During the comic days I had a number of staple characters I created and one of them was the Auburn Arachnid. Unfortunately my naming conventions dated back to when I was eight when ham-fisted monicers ripe with alliteration seemed oh so awesome. This heroine was a reporter by day and a red-haired fighter of crime at night. She did a story on a meteorite impact and found out the thing gave her enhanced strength and balance. Her room-mate was a scientist and harnessed the power of the stone with the electronics in wrist bands. Yes, the room-mate got tied up a lot :)

Anyhow, the character has been around for decades. She started tied up in burning warehouses, to bombs and to other manners of diabolical devices. By the time I was in my late teens and early 20s she usually ended up gagged with her panties and tied with her ankles up by her ears. Funny how things like that change.

Flash forward to today. Now keep in mind that I enjoy developing bondage material. I have no plans on developing super-heroine material, but when Kendra James came to visit I couldn't resist. She was doing material for a friend that has a super-heroine site, and I've always loved Kendra's super-heroine work. After a bit of my usual material I decided the opportunity to have Kendra and a trunk full of costumes would never come again. To my surprise, all the components were in place and with Kendra being a redhead the Auburn Arachnid came to life ... an then got tied up, groped and yes, had her ankles tied up by her ears.

Kendra James has gotten herself some power bands, a belt, high-heeled boots, a black spandex catsuit and a mask. The redheaded reporter decides it's time to fight crime! Her first foray into the field though breeds disastrous results. She finds hidden files on a phone but not the taser built into it. Shocked into unconsciousness and her power bands fried, she is tied, groped, gagged, stripped, spanked and finally unmasked. It seems someone collects superheroines and naked on your back with your ankles tied to your neck means your going into the collection.

No escape

I've always been a huge fan of predicament bondage, but that sort of thing is up to interpretation. That makes it important for me to explain my personal view of predicament bondage. Yes, it includes the damsel in distress scenarios of "will she get loose in time" and "will they arrive to save her in time." My interpretation though has grown through the years as I've experienced more and more ties.

I have a personally philosophy of pushing people's limits. No, that does not mean I tie them up until they cry and then I let them go. That's not pushing a limit, it's exceeding a limit and then pulling back from it. There's a market for that and some folks that produce great material around it. I'll leave that to them. To me pushing a limit is taking somebody up to the edge of what they thought they were capable of and then letting them decide to go past that edge. I love when someone is exhausted at 10 minutes but decides to keep rolling for 15.

That's not the only example though. When someone is tied up the endorphins and adrenaline kick in and they became somewhat like super women. You have a period where you can responsibly get great material out of them if they allow it. Okay, so what does this mean. When you tie someone up there's a give and take of layering on restraint and making sure that the model is cool with things. However if you talk to them in the right way and put things on at the right pace they start feeling more flexible and resilient. They'll let you amp it up a bit more. That's when you get the best results. You're bending them but not breaking them ... and the results are wonderful. They struggle like hell until the adrenaline wears off and then realize, "holy shit he made me into a Russian gymnast."

I had a recent experience like that with Stacie Snow. Her elbows touch because she's tough and flexible, but I never really weld her elbows because she's a wiggler and a little space lets her do her thing. We were doing a scene with layers and I taped over the rope to cover the knots. A cool thing about electrical tape is it's somewhat elastic. That means even though I left a little room with the rope that tape squeezed her elbows together, no crushed them together. And she lasted forever. She went from couch to floor, struggled, rolled and even lied on those welded elbows without even saying ouch. And then the adrenaline wore off and she was done.

That's predicament bondage. We bent the limits without breaking them and got a scene where at the end she was totally spent and totally at her captor's mercy. Luckily I'm a nice guy, so I let her go! Take-downs!

I love on-screen tying, and I love take-down scenarios even more. There is nothing more raw and dramatic than grabbing a gal, physically restraining her and then tying her from start to finish while she struggles. I've hidden around corners, popped out of closets and even been cut and bruised more times than a prize fighter. It's always worth it though because it makes for the best-looking video.

I used to work with Sammie Sparks a while back. She'd come through the area and we'd get in 4-6 hours. I almost cried when she moved to California, but the several shoots we had were some of the best for active video. She struggled like a hellcat, always said the best damsel lines and her husband was great with a camera. That meant I was free to grab, grope and rope without stopping to reset camera angles. There's something a bit primal about that method of shooting. The two actors can really get into the role. She's really struggling against me, and I'm really fighting to get her under control. And the bondage is ALWAYS tighter than normal.

The first sequence we ever shot was a short film about Sammie coming home from work. I always liked shooting outdoor sequences because the neighbor across the street had a thing for high heels, and I'd always film the models going up the steps. He'd see me raking the lawn or something on odd days and ask when the next shoot was lol. Anyway, Sammie pops in, is grabbed and then it's non-stop footage of her and I and a crap-load of electrical tape. Poor Sammie is eventually balltied and going nowhere while her captor rifles through her purse and gropes the hell out of her trying to get her to talk.

Nyssa and Taylor, Double the Damsels Double the Fun

I tend to avoid two-girl shoots because of logistics. I have to move the camera around a lot and paying attention to who might be struggling out of frame is fairly taxing. Then I have to combine that with moving the camera around a lot and it becomes a bit tricky to make sure you have two damsels struggling in each frame as opposed to a damsel and half of a damsel with her head sticking into the unknown.

I had some trepidation about the idea when Nyssa Nevers suggested I work with her traveling companion Taylor Rae, but Nyssa won me over when she said that if I told her where to stay she'd flop around but always stay in frame. And she did! The exotic beauty was always in frame and struggled like hell. She made it easy to concentrate on Taylor during her bondage sequence with no worries that Nyssa would get cropped out somehow. The video was one of the better sequences I filmed that year. Two girls very different: one blond and one brunette, one exotic and one girl-next-door.

It was a fun shoot on many levels. Both girls were charming to work with, I got a great struggle sequence with Nyssa in the beginning, I used panty gags for the first time, I got to man-handle two-girls at once and I did my first on-screen forced orgasm with Nyssa. It is a LONG video that demands a DVD release and the clip may have to be cut down to be palatable to some. Warning: If you don't like two beautiful women stripped down to just shoes getting panty gagged with tape head wraps and then worked over stay away from this clips. Great job Nyssa and Taylor!

Chop saws and powerdrills

Custom videos get done on weekends around these parts. Since yesterday was date night (Barbecue following Paranormal Activity 2) that makes Sunday get 'er done day. Angelique is dealing with mutant activity in Fallout while I'm prepping for a super-heroine request that came our way.

I've already ordered the missing materials for the outfit but still need to hit the party store for a harlequin mask. Earlier I had the fun of bringing out the miter saw and the drill press to put together a post rig. Now I don't know about most of you but I like to keep my home, well, a home. As such I don't bolt poles into the floor for the sake of cinching damsels up to them. That requires making rigs. The new place has the perfect door way that only required making a brace for the top of the door jamb, a brace for the bottom and a pole to go between them. The sawdust flew, the whir of the drill driver echoed in the garage and 20 minutes later we have a post for a tasty pole tie that is rock-solid and damages nothing in the house. Even better I got to use some old two-by-fours that came on a shipping pallet for our treadmill ... I hate wasting good wood (pun intended) and was glad to get the entire rig done for free!

With permission from the requester I'll put up some peeks at how things went later. Until then I'll put up something from a clip that went up last night. It stars the wonderful Kendra James. It's notable in that it is the very first clip I ever shot of her and that it contains more dialog from myself than any clip I've ever done. I'm the strong, silent type when it comes to "bad guys" but it was necessary to be a loud-mouth to make this clip work. All the rigging was done on-screen which is always a bit tighter than when it's done before the camera rolls, and Kendra had to deal with a gag consisting of a large ball, duct tape, a gauze head wrap and then electrical tape over that. Again, those in-the-moment gags tend to end up with a full stretch on the gauze, so she really had to deal with some discomfort.
